Cocktails & Conversation

September 13 @ 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm

$50

49053-1On Thursday, September 13th the popular Cocktails & Conversation series continues with a ripped-from-the-headlines discussion on “Kids, Guns and Schools,” with the author of “Only Child”, Rhiannon Navin, and film maker Kate Way, whose debut documentary film “G is for Gun” recently aired on PBS. Navin’s book – which has garnered rave reviews — tells the story of six-year-old Zach, who survives a deadly shooting in his school and finds the strength to help the adults in his life pull through their darkest hour. Way’s film documents a growing program in Ohio that is training school staff to respond to active shooter situations with guns, and follows the story of one Ohio community divided over arming its teachers. Moderator Amy Bass will lead the discussion. The evening, presented by the New Rochelle Public Library Foundation, begins at 6:30 pm and the cost is $50 per person (includes two glasses of wine or beer and nibbles); reserve today at www.nrplfoundation.org
