The Peter Hand Trio

Jazz guitarist, composer and arranger Peter Hand returns to Alvin & Friends with his trio on Saturday, February 16th, from 7:30 to 11:00 PM. With Harvie S on bass and Steve Johns on drums, the trio will perform a wide range of jazz standards, Latin & Brazilian jazz, R&B classics and original compositions, plus selections from his newly recorded big band album. “Hand’s guitar solos are tasteful and restrained throughout, showcasing his fluid style with vibrant runs and compelling conversations with his bandmates.”

Guitarist, composer and arranger Peter Hand has worked with many top artists and bands including Carmen Lundy, Jon Lucien, Houston Person, Lee Konitz, George Coleman, Don Braden, Claudio Roditi, Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra, Chicago Jazz Orchestra, and Charleston Jazz Orchestra. He leads his own jazz combos and big band in New York, New Jersey and New England, playing the music of jazz greats Horace Silver, Dizzy Gillespie, Duke Ellington and many others, as well as original compositions. His album, “Out Of Hand – The Peter Hand Big Band” (Savant Records), received stellar reviews and reached No. 4 on the JazzWeek Radio Chart of top 50 CDs, and he has just recorded a new album featuring rising star vocalist and saxophonist Camille Thurman on several numbers.
