Cocktails & Conversation with Kamili Bell Hill

November 16, 2023 @ 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm

$60

9188ayJwvwL._SY522_As it gets chillier outside our focus turns inward, to home and hearth, and according to author Kamili Bell Hill that focus should include house plants as well. She says caring for houseplants can be “healing and therapeutic” and she shares that view in her new book “Happy Plants, Happy You.” On Thursday, November 16th the New Rochelle Public Library Foundation invites you for Cocktails & Conversation with “PlantBlerd” blogger and author Kamili Bell Hill in conversation with Prof. Amy Bass.

“Blerd” is a portmanteau of “Back Nerd”, and Hill’s blog “Plantblerd” — which has nearly 60,000 followers – was created for people who nerd out over houseplants. Hill says caring for houseplants “can help you avoid burnout and bring a healthy focus to your own self-care. As it turns out, when you tend to your houseplants, you’re also tending to yourself.” She explains that she used houseplants to “exit the stress highway” that was overtaking her life and her book is part self-exploration, part houseplant handbook – “a plant-based roadmap to a happier you.”

Cocktails & Conversation will take place at Alvin & Friends Restaurant (14 Memorial Highway, New Rochelle) from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm. Tickets cost $60, and include delicious nibbles and two drinks; proceeds benefit the non-profit NRPL Foundation. Tickets are available

at http://weblink.donorperfect.com/cocktailsandconversationPlants   or by mail with a check payable to NRPLF sent to New Rochelle Public Library Foundation, 1 Library Plaza, New Rochelle, NY 10801. For more information visit the website at nrplfoundation.org.

Books will be available for sale and signing that evening from J Anderson’s Books (96 Chatsworth Ave., Larchmont; 914-670-1084).

Cocktails & Conversation is one of the NRPL Foundation’s signature events, designed to bring book lovers together.
